Daniel Gauger began work as a carpet installer’s helper fifty years ago aged fourteen. He worked for his father’s company for a decade, before beginning his own company at age twenty-four. Over the next few decades Mr. Gauger’s company grew his business and began to specialize in custom area rugs. In time Mr. Gauger learned the art of bas-relief carpet sculpturing and became one of, if not, the best in the world. His rugs and wall hangings adorn homes all over the country. Later, Mr. Gauger’s company expanded their specialty work to include fabricating high end historic recreation rugs for many of the famous historic sites in the area. His work is found in the White house, The Blair House, Mt Vernon, Montpelier, Montecello and many, many more.
